The Animation That Shows the Sad Truth of Our “Modern” Life

The artwork of the London-based illustrator Steve Cutts uses satire to portray the excesses of modern society, and it’s really sad. When we look at his artwork, we realize that everything he shows it’s true.

In fact, it’s only then when you see what we as people do to our mother nature. It’s only then when we realize how much power we have and how wrongly we use it.

Instead of using our knowledge, consciousness, and resources as human beings to make our planet a better place for living, we use it to destroy it. And, we don’t spare anyone in the process. We ignore all the living beings around us, believing that we own the planet.

But, we can’t be further from the truth. By destroying the nature and animals, we destroy ourselves. Our greed and selfishness will eventually destroy what makes us humans.

Cutts’ style is inspired by modern graphic novels and comic books, as well as the 1930s and 40s. He used to work on digital projects for Google, Coca-Cola, Toyota, Sony, and other big companies.

His first popular artwork was the short animated film called MAN that has over 30 million views on YouTube. The video which was published in 2012 describes the cruel relationship of man with the natural world.

Here’s MAN, and we are sure you will agree with Cutts on this one.

Later in 2017, his animation for Moby and the Void Pacific Choir’s music video “Are You Lost in the World Like Me?” showed how cold and distant we have become.

He won the Jury Award for this animation which made him eligible for nomination at the Academy Awards.

Cutts uses his artwork to show the insanity in the way we live. He thinks we should become more aware of the society we live in and consider the options it gives to us.

The main subject of his work is the fundamental aspects of today’s society that affects us all. He believes that commenting on the society we live in and making people think and talk more about them is part of his job as an artist.

What a terrible reality we live in. Although it’s sad and depressing, let these animations motivate each of you to use the power you have as a human to improve the environment, and yourself as a person.

We still have time, so don’t give up on humanity!
